From Mouthguards To Gum Disease, General Dentistry Can Help
DeJesus Dental Group is a family dental practice with two convenient locations: Bridgeport/Trumbull Line and Stratford. As such, we offer a wide variety of general dentistry treatments for when your dental needs don’t necessarily require a specialist.
How Often Should I Visit The Dentist?
As a general rule, you should visit either our Bridgeport/Trumbull Line dental office or Stratford dental office once every six months or so. This allows our dentists to keep your teeth clean and healthy, as well as to spot any potential problems while they are still small and more easily treated. Our digital X-rays, for example, can help us detect any cavities or similar dental problems that you might not know you have. However, some patients require visits more often depending on their current dental health. For example, if you have gum disease, you might need to come by more often so we can make sure the disease is managed correctly.
How Can You Help Prevent Or Treat Cavities?
One dental treatment that works well to prevent cavities is a sealant. This clear material fills in the grooves between the cusps of your teeth, making it harder for bacteria to live there and easier for you to clean those teeth. If tooth decay causes a cavity, our tooth-colored fillings can repair the damage so your teeth are healthy and pain-free.
How Can You Treat Gum Disease?
The harmful bacteria that cause tooth decay can also affect your gums, leading to gingivitis or its more serious version, periodontitis. We have several dental treatments that can help. A deep cleaning treatment known as root planing and scaling can remove plaque and bacteria that have grown on and below the gumline. We can also use a special dental laser called PerioLase to nonsurgically remove infected gum tissue.
Do You Offer Athletic Mouthguards For School Sports?
Mouthguards are a great way to protect your teeth from active sports. At our Bridgeport/Trumbull Line and Stratford dental offices, we can custom-make your mouthguard so it will be much more comfortable and stable than any store-bought mouthguard.
Is There Anything You Can Do About Jaw Pain Or Teeth Grinding
If you are grinding your teeth at night, you could be doing damage to your teeth and jaw. This is called bruxism, which is when you grind (or clench) your teeth without knowing it. We can offer a special night guard that can protect your teeth while you sleep. A similar device is used to help with TMD, or when your jaw joint becomes overstressed and starts to hurt or cause other symptoms.
Can A Dentist Help With Bad Snoring
If you or someone in your family is snoring loudly all the time, this could be a sign of sleep apnea, a serious condition that can lead to heart disease and accidents due to fatigue. We can offer a dental splint that moves your jaw just enough to stop the snoring, but we have also partnered with Sleep Group Solutions to help patients get tested for sleep apnea.
If you have any questions about our general dentistry treatments, or if you are ready to schedule your next appointment, call today at 203-916-9348 for Bridgeport/Trumbull Line or 203-212-8259 for Stratford. You can also use our convenient online form to contact either location.
