Special days often mean special food. In the winter, you have Thanksgiving. In the summer, you have family barbeques. And birthday parties happen all year round. Even if you’re on a diet, there’s usually something you look forward to eating. But if your teeth are damaged or missing, that could be a problem. If you are having trouble chewing, our restorative dentistry treatments can help get you back to chewing normally.
Missing Teeth? Dental Implants Get You Back To Chewing Normally
Missing a tooth can make it harder to chew and eat your food. Think about trying to eat corn on the cob without all of your front teeth, and you get the idea. We can replace that tooth with a dental implant. In this treatment, our dentists will surgically implant a titanium root in your jaw. Once healed, it becomes as strong as any of your natural teeth’s roots. Then we attach an abutment and replacement tooth to that artificial root. The replacement is custom-made to fit the shape and color of the missing tooth, so not only will it help you chew normally again, but it will also look completely natural in your mouth.
Hurts When You Chew? Crowns & Bridges Can Make It Painless Again
If you have a tooth that’s damaged or has a large cavity, putting pressure on it can make pain suddenly flare up. To both protect the tooth and stop it from hurting when you chew, we can use a dental crown. This cap fits snugly over your tooth, sealing up the damage and protecting the tooth. And because a crown is made specifically for that tooth, it will look natural and healthy.
Sometimes, however, it’s better to remove the tooth so it won’t hurt you anymore. In these cases, we can use a dental bridge to fill the space. These use replacement teeth similar to dental implants, but instead of a surgical procedure, dental bridges use a pair of crowns placed on the nearby teeth to hold the bridge in place.
Missing Several Teeth? Dentures Can Replace Them All
If you’re missing several teeth or even a whole arch, then it may be better to go with dentures. Modern dentures use replacement teeth (again, custom-made to fit your mouth in particular) set in a gum-colored mold. Full dentures replace all of the teeth on the top or bottom of your mouth and use a combination of suction and adhesive to stay in place. Partial dentures replace fewer teeth and are often held in place with clasps placed on your healthy teeth. We also offer dentures held securely in place with implanted titanium roots. These implant-supported dentures will ensure your replacement teeth never move around or fall out.
With dental implants, crowns, bridges, and dentures, we can restore your teeth so you can get back to eating the foods you love without any difficulty.
